OSC Track Day - 2008
For more than 40 years now, the OSC has been promoting motorcycle safety in Ottawa and surrounding areas; taking pride in its rich offering of motorcycling programs that benefit not only those just being introduced to motorcycling, but to more experienced riders alike. In keeping with this, the OSC will hosting a track day again this year, where riders will be given the opportunity to practice higher speed cornering, braking, and throttle management in a controlled and professional environment. |
Event Description
This event is not a training program providing instruction on riding technique; it is simply a track day for more experienced riders to practice their skills while having fun in a controlled environment. With that stated however, there will be some track experienced OSC instructors available to escort riders of all experience levels. What’s more, we include a classroom based information session with the event, which would be of particular benefit to less experienced track day riders.
In keeping with the OSC’s underlying focus on safety, the emphasis of the event would not be for riders to increase speeds and lower lap times. Rather, riders would be encouraged to brake, corner, and accelerate consistently and smoothly.

Preparation & Rules
To ensure the safety of all participants, a number of measures will be implemented. This includes escorted lapping sessions, strictly enforced riding conduct rules, and monitoring / supervision by both on track and off track marshals. Additionally, we will be using smaller group sizes with enforced overtaking rules to ensure a greater safety margin for all riders. Riders will be classified into riding groups to ensure that riders of similar levels will be lapping on the same sessions.
Both the riding gear, and the motorcycle will have to meet certain minimum safety standards, and will be inspected at the track. The registration package provides more details on our bike/gear standards, as well out outlining the riding conduct rules.
Additionally, all participating bikes will be required to pass sound tests conducted by Calabogie Motorsports Park. Their web site has additional details on these sounds tests. |
Fees
The fee for the track day, including the classroom based information session, is as follows:
- Early registration $185 + GST = $194.25
- Regular registration $210 + GST = $220.50
Early registration ends at noon, May 2nd, 2008
The day will split between 3 riding groups, with a riding group consisting of approximately 30 riders.
