Learn on Our Bikes
![]() Many students tell us the fact that we supply the motorcycle for your Gearing Up course is one of the course highlights. We think it's an important feature too, for many reasons. You will have the exclusive use of a motorcycle for the duration of the course - you do not share one. You will be listening to instructions, riding, or resting for the entire weekend. We don't want you waiting for a turn on a bike. Riding our bikes means you will be able to concentrate on your technique and on following instruction. You won't have part of your mind occupied with concerns over dropping your new motorcycle. (We'll assure you that you need not worry about dropping ours - they are built for it.) Our instructors can also concentrate more - on observing your performance, providing feedback, and coaching, because they know the motorcycles intimately and know exactly how they respond and what they are capable of doing. ![]() Our motorcycles are small and light - probably smaller and lighter than the motorcycle you will end up buying. This makes them easy to handle and minimises the amount of physical effort you are exerting, allowing you to concentrate on technique. You will be able to easily push, mount, dismount, turn, and reach the ground from these bikes. They are also easy to pick up, although we hope you won't have occasion to test that. Using our motorcycles means you don't have to purchase a bike and insurance right away. This may save you money (should you decide this sport is not for you), and it will help you when you do buy, as you will have a much better idea of the style, size, and power you need. You will also be in a position to test-drive bikes you are considering buying with your M2 license. Your instructor will assign you a motorcycle at the beginning of the Saturday morning hands-on riding session. Barring mechanical troubles, this same bike will be yours for the entire weekend, so you will be thoroughly familiar with it by the time you take the skills test on Sunday. (During breaks you will have opportunities to try the other bikes so you may experience the other styles.) Our Bikes Our fleet contains several models of motorcycle. (Your instructor will choose the models for his group based on the students' riding experience and size.) We retire bikes from our fleet, and add new makes and models, every year, so the list below is not guaranteed to be accurate, but it will give you a good idea of the kind of bikes we use for training.
