1st Track Day a Success
Posted September 23, 2002

On Labour Day Monday, September 2nd, the Ottawa Safety Council held its first Novice Track Day. The day after the Canadian Superbike Championship finale at Shannonville Long Track, the Ottawa Safety Council donned the orange vests and puttered around the same layout on 10 hp training bikes.
Although geared solely towards riders who had never been on the track before, this track day ended up attracting the full spectrum of participants. It was highly successful and enjoyed by all. |
Participants were able to ride the track in one of four speed/experience rated categories complete with an instructor to follow around the track, if so desired. The requests for escorted laps were continuous and the Ottawa Safety Council will be prepared with more roving marshalls and escorts for next year. |
The positive feedback received by the Ottawa Safety Council motorcycle instructors was so overwhelming that it is seriously being considered again for 2003.
Ottawa participants included staff from MD Motorcycles, Ottawa Goodtime Centre, Wheelsport, Motorsports World, Harley Davidson of Ottawa and the majority of Ottawa Safety Council motorcycle instructors. Also present was Cycle Canada magazine.
Stay tuned to this web site for more details on future track days and other upcoming courses and events from the Ottawa Safety Council.
