Instructor Qualifications

When you train with the OSC Motorcycle Rider Course, you are
being coached by dedicated instructors whose qualifications include:
| |
Active riders.
MRC instructors are active motorcyclists. They own their
own motorcycle (many own more than one) and ride many
thousands of kilometres per year. Many are active in other
motorcycling activities such as clubs or racing. They are
also required to maintain a good driving record.
|
Extensively Trained. Before being certified by the Canada Safety Council, your instructors had extensive training. This included principles of adult education, the course training approach and curriculum, and their own riding skills. |
First Aid. Your instructors are also trained in standard First Aid and CPR, and re-certified every two years. |
Experienced.
Your instructors are experienced. They must teach a minimum
number of MRC courses annually to remain certified.
(Many have to be restrained from teaching too many.)
This means, among other things, that your
Gearing Up
instructors are constantly riding your course bikes,
practising the same techniques they ask you to perform,
and taking the Skills Test. Our instructor group has over 25,000 cumulative hours experience in teaching the Gearing Up program.
Frequent Refresh.
Your instructors take measures to ensure they remain
qualified. Their MRC-specific training and riding skills
are refreshed with special training sessions before the
start of each riding season, their first aid certification
is renewed every two years, and there are several training and
conference sessions annually that they may attend to trade
information and match skills with other instructors. Many
instructors also take our own
Experienced Rider Course on a
regular basis. |
