  Hand with counter Web Counter?

You clicked the web counter?

Well, since you did, we'll take a moment to point something out.
One of our webmaster's pet peeves is web sites with ridiculously high values on their web counters. On many sites you've probably discovered that you can run the web counter higher just by hitting your browser's "reload" or "refresh" button many times. Why anyone would do this is puzzling -- we suppose the owners think it makes the site seem more credible if it has a huge web count.
Go ahead and try reloading this page, or any on our site, several times. You'll see the web counter doesn't usually change. It's set up to count "real" visitors, not just someone hitting "reload". It will count someone coming from a different computer right away, or you reloading after a period of time. We think this is a much more realistic way to run a counter.
Why tell you this? (First of all, you clicked on the web counter, remember.) We thought it helped to reinforce a theme we're presenting. We are all avid motorcyclists teaching for the joy of it. We're not trying to sell anything, just produce better riders. The "honest web counter" represents what you can expect from us: honest, no-nonsense information and feedback, with little hype.
