2004 Motorcycle Safety Conference

October 16, 2004
Calabogie Peaks Resort

Join CSC Instructors, Chiefs Instructors and Mechanics in Canada’s first Motorcycle Safety Conference, hosted by the Ottawa Safety Council.

The Ottawa Safety Council, Motorcycle Training Division, is presenting a one-day conference on motorcycle safety on Saturday, October 16th, 2004, for Canada Safety Council (CSC) registered motorcycle instructors and trainers.
The 2004 Conference will be presented at Calabogie Peaks Resort and the Calabogie Motorsports Park, in Calabogie, Ontario, about one hour west of Ottawa.

Purpose

Motorcycle instructors need to be aware of their responsibility for delivering Canada Safety Council (CSC) course material in a professional manner. But, there are few professional development opportunities in Canada apart from annual "refresher" training.
The aim of the OSC 2004 Conference is to present a quality learning experience for CSC registered instructors and trainers that increases awareness and understanding of contemporary issues and practices.
Awareness will extend to being informed about instructor liability issues and relevant case law; and, to understanding and practicing the most up-to-date bike handling theories and techniques.

Target Audience

The target audience for the 2004 Conference is Canada Safety Council (CSC) registered instructors, trainers and government administrators.

Sessions

Six sessions will be presented:

  1. Legal responsibilities and liability of motorcycle instructors
  2. Situational awareness issues affecting traffic behaviour
  3. Relationship of motorcycle accidents and rider training (Luncheon speaker)
